Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) is a policy mechanism which requires electric companies to purchase electricity from renewable energy producers at predetermined rates. This is the most widely used policy in the world for accelerating the deployment of renewable energy.
The goal of FiT is to effectively overcome the various barriers to investment by improving the competitiveness and cash flow of renewable energy producers.

There are usually two options of FiT:

I. A fixed-price tariff – set a constant price per unit of energy through the contract period which provides renewable energy producer a stable expected future revenue.
II. A premium-price tariff – set a price equal to the location market electricity price plus an additional premium.
